Why are we focusing on the segmentation between artists and designers? Isn't the whole point of the indie movement the democratization of game design? If an artist wants a game to match some art that they have done, why not write the game themselves? Why do we assume that artists are by default not game designers?

I think comics in general do this quite a bit. I mean, Marvel already had Spiderman drawn and even scripted for 20 years before they came out with the RPG.
